BongoHive Innovation and Technology Hub has officially launched its newest offering, Hive Coworking space, also referred to as The Hive. The coworking space, which has been running for over three years for entrepreneurs and startups officially launched its new office on Friday, 4 March 2022.

 

BongoHive’s ‘latest’ offering is a solution for startups and entrepreneurs who are looking for a place to start and scale their ventures, with the added benefit of having a community of fellow entrepreneurs and startups from which to learn from and collaborate with.

 

The launch was hosted by Hub Manager Milicah Shonga, who welcomed the guests to the new space. She also drew attention to the growth of BongoHive over the past eleven (11) years, starting from a small office at the Ministry of Education in Longacres, moving to Olympia, Kalundu, Mass Media and now back to Olympia.

 

The Hive coworking space located along Lusaka’s Katima Mulilo Road, boasts seven (7) private office spaces, desk seating for sixteen (16) dedicated coworkers, a 10-seater meeting room, a 35-seater event room and an outdoor seating area for the ‘drop in’ coworker. 


Amenities include high-speed internet powered by Liquid Intelligent Technologies, kitchen facilities, secure parking and a swimming pool.

 

Current tenants at The Hive include BongoHive and BongoHive Consult, Challenges Zambia as well as disruptive startups such as YellowCard and Flutterwave.


Speaking at the launch event, BongoHive cofounder and Executive Director Lukonga Lindunda, highlighted the growth of BongoHive over the past years and the recognition of the need to create a space for startups and entrepreneurs to meet and interact with others. The addition of Hive Coworking as a unit speaks to the BongoHive vision of working with great minds, creating viable solutions that will change the world by creating the environment for collaboration. He added “…we are convinced that The Hive will be the home of the next wave of Zambian tech startups that will take on the world”.


And also at the launch, Guest of Honour Maloba Musenge who is Liquid Intelligent Technologies (LIT) Chief Business Officer, commended BongoHive for coming up with an initiative that will help to empower entrepreneurs in the country, commending both BongoHive and LIT for their work to bridge a gap by enabling SMEs to have access to platforms that large corporates have.
